Hello Kitty frames

Photo of the Day: Hello Kitty Bow and Whiskers glasses

Last year I saw these Hello Kitty framed glasses floating around all over the web: ebay, etsy, tumblr, weheartit, pinterest. You name it was there.

Every time I saw it, I wished I had a pair.

Not that I would wear them, but I just wanted it because it was just too cute! Plus if I hadn’t already mentioned, I am a big Hello Kitty fan. (Recall my posts about the hello kitty cushion and the Hello Kity Swarovski)

My friend recently just came back from Hong Kong – and you guess it, she got me a pair as a souvenir!!!!!

Totally stoked and surprised because 1. She didn’t know that I was coveting for one and 2. I wasn’t expecting a souvenir.

Unfortunately, you won’t be seeing me rocking these anytime soon…maybe at a dress-up party.

A Christmas pressie from moi to moi

Miu Miu Madras in Nero

I finally got my hands on this Miu Miu!! I have been dreaming of her ever since I saw her in Venice!

The story is,  at the time in Venice I saw the Madras bag in fuchsia and turquoise. I was umm-ing and ah-ing about turquoise but then I decided I should save my luggage space and wait till I got to Paris (being my last leg of the Europe trip) and hoped that I could score myself the bag in black.

When I got to Paris, there was one and only one left and in BLACK! My COLOUR! But lo and behold, the leather on the bag was slightly scratched and very visible.

Came back from Europe Miu-Miu-less.

Since then I have been making small appearances at the Sydney Miu Miu boutique just to check out the stock. Every now and again I’d see a Madras but just not in Black…. until 2 days before Christmas I got a very special call from Miu Miu.

The Black Madras had just been delivered from Italy. My reaction over the phone *OMGISH*

So long story short, this is my Christmas present to moi~

No doubt, the Madras bag is my favourite Christmas pressie this year, but it comes quite close to a Hello Kitty cushion that my little sis got me:

Hello Kitty cushion. LOVE LOVE LOVE

The cushion is soooo big! Here she is next to the bag for size comparisons:

Yes, I admit – I have an obsession with Hello Kitty!

I have tried to pull back on buying all cutesy HK things but this figurine from the Hello Kitty Swarovski collection was something that I could not resist! After all, I only bought 1 of the 3 figurines right? ;)

Have you bought anything from the 2011 Hello Kitty Swarovski Collection? Show and tell please!

Hello Kitty Swarovski Collection

Updated August 16, 2011: [new blog post] My new Hello Kitty addition

The latest team up of Hello Kitty Sanrio and Swarovski is one of my favourite collaborations to date!

Hello Kitty was introduced in 1974 and have captured the hearts of many since – me included! Under the artistic direction of Nathalie Colin, Swarovski’s enthusiastic design team have created a fresh and unique collection capturing Hello Kitty’s signature style – her bow, apple, flowers and her companion the bear.

The new collection is now available online and in stores, consists of  pieces of jewelry, charms, accessories, and figurines. Of the entire collection I have my lemmings on the 3 irresistible figurines!

Hello Kitty Bear, Hello Kitty Red Apple, Hello Kitty Pink Bow

For the more dedicated Hello Kitty fans and collectors, there is a limited edition Hello Kitty featuring almost 20,000 crystals, all applied by hand using Swarovski’s signature technique. Lemming for one? Get your hands on one quick, as only 88 have been made world wide, with engraved individual edition numbers!

“She’s just a nice, cute, adorable character,” said Swarovski CEO Robert Buchbauer. ”She’s just a symbol of happiness, and I think it’s very important these days to transmit some positive messages to the people, and I think Hello Kitty is perfect in order to do so.”

The exhibition was a Hello Kitty fun house and allowed visitors to buy pieces from the new Swarovski colleciton.

The event was opened from June 30 – July 10 and 9 of the special figurines designed by Japanese celebrities and artists exhibited were auctioned and donated to the Japanese Red Cross.
